Every student is unique, has a different way of learning, and develops their own taste in music. If we are given music that we love, we will play it. If we are only presented with the dry formulaic music of most “methods’”, the desire to practice will fade quickly.

Over the years I have developed a teaching style that addresses the needs of the student, developing especially the most important quality a musician needs-the ability to listen and hear. Theory and ear-training, technic, improvising, reading, and ensemble playing are included.

I teach private piano lessons at our studio and we offer small workshops and recitals at regular intervals so that students may develop confidence and share the progress they have made.

I also compose, perform and support others in creating music in our community.

Every year, on the last Saturday of May, we host “LIZFEST,” a music festival that goes on for 10 hours. We have diverse musical acts, from young rock bands to the best folk and jazz acts in San Diego. People bring sumptous dishes to enjoy while listening to the music, and also hang out in the back-yard to chat and catch up with families and friends. There is a suggested donation of $20, but no one is turned away if they can’t afford it. Every year we have met our goal of awarding 3 $500 scholarships to dance and music students at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, and also the San Diego Center of Children.
